The program was done in collaboration with Qatar Airways, Visit Nepal Year 2020 Campaign, Nepal Tourism Board, Smart Family and in support with Nepal Airlines. The program was attended by Honorable Mr. Yogesh Bhattarai, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, as the Chief Guest.
The official opening of this event began with traditional ceremonies of both our countries – lighting of a Nepalese traditional lamp and Russian refreshment – bread and salt.
The director of the RCSC Yulia Androsova invited everyone to get acquainted with Russian culture and taste the dishes of Russian cuisine prepared by the famous chef Andrei Zanin and his assistant Maxim Vovna, who came from Moscow to this event. Also in her opening speech, she spoke about the celebration in Russia this year of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and also invited to take part in the march “Immortal Regiment” – to honor the memory of those killed in World War II on May 9.
The cultural program was opened by multiple world Karate Champions Fudokan-do from Russia. The main event of the event was a traditional dance performance by 20 professional dancers from Russia of the “Yunost” group and after that the guests were invited to taste Russian dishes prepared by Russian Chefs.
The festival of Russian cuisine, which runs until March 12, will feature the exhibition “Folk Crafts of Russia” on a permanent basis, as well as master classes for 26 chefs of Nepalese hotels.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 400 people, including representatives of the Ministries of Nepal, the foreign Diplomatic Corps, and the Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia. The event received extensive coverage in the Nepalese media, print, digital and television.
The Russian Embassy and the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Nepal were thanked by the partners of the program with the hope of further cooperation in the development of Russian – Nepalese relations in humanitarian areas.
This is the second time that an event of this format and theme has been held in Nepal, and it has received the widest coverage in the media and among the Nepalese public.
